Michelle Doherty
Social Officer Lead
Michelle’s journey began with a childhood dream of becoming a ranger at Mount Buffalo National Park. That aspiration led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Outdoor Education at Latrobe University; Bendigo, inspired by an early work experience placement. A summer role as an Interpretive Ranger marked the start of her 35-year career with parks across Australia.
Michelle’s professional life has encompassed a rich variety of roles, including interpretation, education, communication, engagement, and multiple Ranger positions throughout Victoria. A highlight of her career was spending two unforgettable years in Central Australia, where she interpreted the region’s unique natural and cultural landscapes. Eventually, Michelle achieved her dream of becoming a Ranger at Mount Buffalo, but her career has taken her far beyond her childhood ambitions. Now semi-retired, Michelle continues to explore and enjoy the beauty of Australia’s national parks—most recently traveling through Western Australia.
