Sandy Brown
Assistant Treasurer
Sandy embarked on his career in protected area management in 1993, starting as a ranger at Baw Baw and moving to Wilsons Promontory National Park in (1997) where he managed a team developing walking tracks, maintaining park infrastructure, and addressing the diverse needs of visitors at the bustling Tidal River Campground. All of which put him in good stead to take on the leadership role of Ranger in Charge of the Bass Coast where he honed his skills in balancing the needs of the community against those of protecting park values by engaging them in its protection. He completed his career in specialising in staff and visitor safety, encompassing the dual challenges of the management of human and asbestos waste across park sites statewide, underscoring his commitment to public health and environmental safety. After three decades of dedicated service, Sandy retired in 2021 and now enjoys exploring Australia’s landscapes.
