Victorian Protected Areas Council Statement of Support for Rangers on World Rangers Day 2026 Thursday 30th of July 2026
The Victorian Protected Areas Council (VPAC) would like to join others around the world in celebrating 20 years of World Ranger Day on Friday 31 July. As we honour rangers worldwide, we also thank Victorian rangers for their outstanding work. Since Victoria’s first National Parks were declared in 1898, rangers have protected the state’s diverse natural and cultural landscapes. Today, Victoria’s protected areas face increasing pressure from climate impacts and divergent community views about their purpose and respectful use.
VPAC recognises the growing complexity of protected area management and the vital role rangers play in the maintenance and protection of Victoria’s parks and reserves.
